On September 20, 2025, Kat and Tyler Smith were married at Norland Estate in Alberta. The day was quiet in its confidence and rich in meaning, a reflection of the life they have built together and the chapters they have already lived side by side.
Norland Estate set the tone from the moment guests arrived. Its historic architecture and manicured grounds offered a sense of permanence and calm, grounding the celebration in something timeless. The space felt intentional, not just chosen for its beauty, but for its ability to hold a story.

That story is one shaped by resilience.
Tyler’s journey as a survivor of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash has become part of who he is. Through loss, healing, and advocacy, he has used his voice to support mental health awareness across Canada. Kat has been beside him through every season, steady and unwavering. Their wedding day did not shy away from that truth. Instead, it honored it with quiet respect.
Planned and styled by Nicole Louise Couture Events, the celebration unfolded as an experience rather than a series of moments. Subtle references to their time on The Amazing Race Canada were woven throughout the day, not as spectacle, but as storytelling. Guests were guided to their seats by flight attendants at an Amazing Race inspired escort wall. A Next Leg map mat marked the path forward. A custom wedding logo appeared again and again, grounding the design in unity.

There was lightness too. A vintage cake cart invited guests to choose freely. Diffraction glasses revealed small hearts of light as the evening unfolded. The Portrait Lounge offered space to pause and connect, quietly reflecting Tyler’s ongoing commitment to mental health advocacy.

Kat wore an Alena Leena gown, timeless and understated, allowing the emotion of the day to take center stage. Florals by With the Flowers softened Norland Estate with white blooms and texture, while black and white tablescapes and chandeliers brought a sense of modern restraint to the reception.

As the night continued, the celebration felt less like a performance and more like a gathering. Conversations lingered. Laughter carried. The focus stayed where it mattered most.

Love and Lore Films captured the day with care, preserving not only how it looked, but how it felt. The result is a wedding story rooted in love, strength, and the decision to move forward together, into every next leg that comes. Watch the video here. here.
